Overview
Behaviour-Based Safety Training is currently gaining ground in the field of accident prevention. It is an accepted fact that unsafe acts or hazardous behaviours are substantial contributors to accident occurrence and this training addresses this concern.
Rationale:
Unsafe acts contribute to almost 98 % of all the accidents occurring in the workplace and for accident prevention to become successful the human factors must be addressed. Training on behavioural safety, will hopefully, if not all address the underlying factors behind this so that workers will realize that accidents are not fate based but are caused by either a lack of understanding or appreciation on the consequences of exposure to hazards.
Objective:
- Become familiar with the theoretical and practical aspects of behaviour-based approach to continuous improvement in occupational safety and health performance
- Introduce effective management of human factors in safety
- Understand why employees take risk and hopefully, eliminate this attitude
- Implement strategies and actions for the management of taking risk
- Integrate accident prevention goals and objectives with that of production
